Classes labeled “Yoga” include a variety of yoga styles and techniques that are based upon the Instructor’s yoga background and training. Each class includes instruction in breathing techniques, asanas (yoga postures), and relaxation.
Classes labeled “IDY” are specifically designed to provide members with an integrative approach to yoga, health, and fitness; thereby, fusing traditional yoga principles, contemporary philosophical practices, fundamental principles of exercise science, functional conditioning and movement. Depending on the level of the class, these classes may include flowing movements, prolonged holding of postures to increase strength and/or flexibility, breathing techniques and breath awareness, meditation practices and centering, and relaxation. Instructors may also use yoga props including straps, blocks, blankets, and sandbags to assist in facilitating correct postural alignment and body awareness.
This fusion-style class offers a fun, invigorating workout without the use of equipment or props. The goal is to leave members lengthened, strengthened and energized with simple movement patterns that build core control, coordination and confidence (All)
This class blends core strengthening exercises with traditional yoga postures and movements. This technique focuses on increasing core strength and awareness, flexibility of the spine, and breathing techniques. A strong core and flexible spine, allows greater ease of movement. Breathing techniques and relaxation practices provide for mind-body integration. Level 1-2 Core classes are more physically challenging and include dynamic strengthening and stretching poses and movements; however, modifications are given to those new to yoga.
This is a vigorous flow-based yoga class, athletic in nature, where students learn to build awareness, strength, skill, and efficient use of the breath.Students should have a basic knowledge of yoga postures and their own bodies and limitations and be willing to modify accordingly. The sequence of postures may be different from class to class, but always follow an intelligent progression that moves from basic to complex. Postures are often held for longer periods of time, and will flow together to increase stamina and concentration. This fun and creative style of yoga builds heat, flexibility, strength, and confidence while maintaining focus on good alignment and sound structure. Yoga experience encouraged.
After a hard workout, members can take some very much needed time to ease out the stresses of the week. This class can be used as a compliment with other classes or alone. This “Zenful” yoga based class combines mindful breathing, synchronized with a flow sequence for the first 15-20 minutes. The final ten minutes of class are reserved for guided meditation. Taking time for self reflection is a wonderful way of connecting with yourself. You leave class feeling powerful and calm yet energized! If you plan on staying for the meditation section, the studio is cool, so be sure to bring a sweater or large beach towel to cover your body. All levels welcome.
The Fundamentals and flow practice expands the practice through the application of dynamic movement and alignment applications for increasing strength, stability, stamina, flexibility and range of motion to enhance physical and functional conditioning. This practice may incorporate vinyasa flow movements to move into and out of postures as well as active movement in each pose combined with holding postures for five or more breaths. This intermediate class combines Level 1 and Level 2 and is taught with the intention of guiding students through foundational and more challenging postures and movements; however, options for modifying poses and sequences are provided, as appropriate, for each student. Students new to yoga should start with Gentle and or Level 1 classes.
A restorative yoga practice that reduces stress and relaxes the mind. This class includes calming seated and standing asanas (yoga postures) and gentle flowing movements that increase range of motion and flexibility of joints while at the same time cultivating a meditative and relaxing yoga practice. Suitable for seniors or those recovering from injuries or those who prefer a calm, peaceful, and slower paced class. All levels are welcome.
This early evening yoga experience an excellent way to clear your head and unkink your body after the workday! Work off tightness and stress with sequences and poses designed to undo the effects of prolonged sitting, screen-staring and shallow breathing. It’s your time to unwind, decompress and elevate your spirit. This class will leave you feeling happy, recalibrated and balanced after your workday and before your evening. This class begins with guided meditation practice. As with all of our IDY yoga classes, focus is placed alignment principles, breathing, while learning a variety of asanas (yoga postures) and allowing members to develop strength and endurance. Previous experience is recommended.
This class is designed to teach the basic principles of Pilates using mat exercises. You will learn how to use breath to facilitate movement and to activate the deep “corset” muscles that stabilize the spine and pelvis. This mind-body class trains the whole body simultaneously to build a strong, long, lean, and flexible muscles as well as coordination & balance. (All)
This Level 1-3 class provides detailed alignment instruction in foundational yoga postures (downward facing dog, chaturanga, warrior poses etc.), yet provides participants with an opportunity to explore and play with more challenging poses (crane, camel, wheel pose etc.). With a complete understanding of alignment and modifications, participants are then able to move through flow sequences more efficiently, effortlessly, and gracefully allowing one’s yoga practice to truly be a “meditation in motion.”
Learn and gain the benefits of yoga in a safe, gentle program without getting down on to the floor. Restorative Chair Yoga+ is a gentle yoga class that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Designed for those with injuries, back or chronic pain, excess weight, and health issues that make attending a standard yoga class challenging. Focus is placed on gently increasing flexibility, range of motion, and core strength as well as breathing techniques and meditation that relieve stress and create an overall sense of peace and well-being.
Have fun and move to the music in this gentle class exploring a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Greet the day with an energetic mind and open heart. Each class includes a quick warm-up, leading to sun salutations; progressing to yoga posture variations. Flowing movements include standing and balance poses, seated stretches, breathing techniques, and relaxation. This class is not recommended for those with injuries. If this is your first yoga class, please introduce yourself to the instructor before class.
All levels welcome! This class is designed to create a foundation for beginning students as well as deepen advanced students’ understanding of alignment and transition in vinyasa flow.
Vinyasa Flow is a rhythmic style of yoga weaving intelligently sequenced poses together throughout Sun Salutations. Sun Salutations are a series of twelve movements linked together and synchronized by the breath creating a constant state of fluidity. In Vinyasa Flow yoga 3 poses are thread into Sun Salutations, building up to more challenging poses, thus creating a continuous flowing practice. This advance class format is suited for those with years of yoga experience who are seeking a more active and challenging practice. Previous yoga experience is required.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga Flow Level 1-3 is a rhythmic style class in a mixed level setting and is taught with the intention of guiding and progressing students through various postures and movements. Previous yoga experience is recommended. This class is NOT for beginners or those with injuries.
These classes combine Level 1 and Level 2 and are taught with the intention of guiding students through foundational and more challenging postures and movements; however, options for modifying poses and sequences are provided, as appropriate, for each student. Students new to yoga should start with Level 1 classes.
A moderately paced intermediate class. Continue to deepen your practice by refining the details of postures. Focus is placed on holding poses longer and going deeper. These classes also include foundational sun salutations and vinyasa flow movements. Classes may include inversion preparation poses (including headstands, handstand, and arm-balancing postures), and backbends. For those with a solid yoga practice, approximately six months to one year of yoga study.
This 75 minute class begins with a centering and moving meditation. Members are then transitioned into dynamic flow sequences, after which the yoga wall, blocks and straps are incorporated to assist with alignment applications for increasing strength, stability, balance and functional conditioning. Class ends with a short meditation. All levels welcome!
In this class, the studio is heated to approximately 90 degrees. The class is taught based upon the Instructor’s yoga background and training and includes instruction in breathing techniques, asanas (yoga postures) and flowing movements, and relaxation. The use of heat assists increasing flexibility and range of motion, releases toxins, develops muscle tone, and builds the immune system. Because the room is heated, please be sure to be well hydrated before class and bring a water bottle and towel.
Create a solid and safe foundation for your yoga practice. Learn fundamental alignment principles for foundational postures. Participants will learn breathing techniques, asanas (yoga postures), principles that provide a solid foundation for your yoga practice. Modifications to postures are given so that each participant can honor their body and capabilities. Focus is placed on Integrative Principles of Alignment including Foundation, activation and alignment, integration, extension and expansion, balanced energetic action, and mind-body centered awareness. This class focuses on the fundamental principles of body alignment of foundational yoga postures and movements. Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, understanding and practicing proper alignment will prevent and rehabilitate injury, build strength appropriately, and increase flexibility and range of motion. This class links a sequence of poses that promotes body awareness, while at the same time cultivates mindfulness and stress relief. Beginner’s Welcome.
Om Fusion is a scientifically crafted sequence of yoga postures that works to facilitate strength, endurance, balance, range of motion, and flexibility. Divided into two Primary Fusion Series – Sun Series or Moon Series, the posture groups build upon each other; as the postures become more challenging, the body and mind become more amenable to the practice. When the posture groups are linked together, the practice truly becomes a FUSION of mind, body and soul. Om Fusion follows Integrative Dynamic Yoga’s Foundational Sequence beginning with centering and breathing techniques, warm-ups, shifting to standing and balancing poses, followed by hand/forearm postures, revolved twists, backbends and finishing with a variety of deeper floor and restorative postures.
Focus is placed on learning the posture groups and integrative principles of alignment. Participants will learn variations that shift the practice from Level 1 (for those just beginning to practice yoga and gaining an understanding of movement and alignment) to Level 3 (for those who are expanding and deepening their practice).
This class focuses on one of the two Primary Fusion Series – Sun Series or Moon Series and alternates each week. What makes it Level 4? Participants are expected to have a strong understanding of alignment principles in foundational postures and should be familiar and comfortable with modifying postures and movements for individual needs. Level 4 assumes that you are free from injury and are open to the physical, mental and emotional challenge of a class that is intended to transform you from the inside…out.
